This species is 10”
in length. It is found in Peru, Bolivia and Brazil
and is mostly dark green. The head (from forehead
to hindneck) is brownish black with some green edging.
The sides of the neck, throat and upper breast are
dark brown with white tips, turning yellow on the
lower breast creating the scaly appearance typical
of most Pyrrhura species . The primary coverts are
bright red with outer primaries green, tinged with
blue. Tail is green on top and greyish underneath.
Beak, legs and feet are dark grey.
